The church clock is Victorian, dating back to 1863. Unusually the mechanism in the Tower is a long way from the exterior face, which is on the East wall of the Nave. The two are linked by a long rod under the roof, visible from inside the church.
In 2001 an automatic electric winder was installed and a 15-inch chiming bell, made in 1876 by J. Taylor & Sons, Loughborough, was added.
By 2017 the clock had become inaccurate and had stopped a number of times due to its age. An appeal by The Friends raised money for the mechanism to be removed and completely resored by Cumbrian Clock Company. The mechanism was returned to the Tower in 2018 but further problems were uncovered due to the rods which connect the mechanism to the face
In 2022 a motor was fitted behind the face in step with the clock mechanism in the Tower to solve the problems of the old connecting rods.
