There has been a church on the site since around 1008 so it's not surprising that St Mary's needs constant maintenance and repair. Since its formation in 1998, and in addition to other major projects, The Friends have also been involved with:
- Taking out the old heating boiler
- Removing the old gas supply
- Addressing important health and safety requirements
- Re-decorating the Church and re-plastering
- Oak flooring in the Sanctuary
- Electrical work and checks
- New lighting in the Nave and Aisles
- Repair and repainting of guttering and soffits
- Water heaters for kitchen and disabled toilet
- Roof repairs and inspections
- Repairs to the Tower
- A new heating system
- Three-phase electrical installation
